Here’s a quick introduction to the terminology: Dye: to infuse permanent colour into a material. Sublimation: the process from solid to the gaseous state without becoming liquid. Polymer: when large molecules are comprised of a series of repeated simpler molecules.
Dye Sublimation: Solid dye particles are transformed into gas using heat and pressure, which allows any polymers to change back into a solid. The ink is not only ‘burnt’ onto the material, it is infused into the fibres on a molecular level.
